So THIS happened kind of suddenly! I was asked LAST WEEK if I would write and perform a song for the 100th anniversary of the completion of the Trans Australia Railway to be celebrated this month at Ooldea out on the Nullarbor. Folks flying and driving in from all over OZ! Decided to put out a special EP with this song, Bands of Steel, PLUS four others of mine not yet released on CD. Can you believe the CD covers were done before the song was even recorded…..scary deadlines!! Will also be performing the song at the railway centenary celebrations at Peterborough on 19th October. Stay tuned!
Bands of Steel
Bands of Steel was written, recorded and performed especially for the centenary celebration of the joining of the east-west links of the Trans Australian Railway. This takes place at Ooldea on the Nullarbor Plain on 17 October 2017, one hundred years after the last spike was driven. This new extended play CD also features songs about topics as diverse as the Stolen Generation of our indigenous people, those brave sappers who protect our troops, a proposed nuclear waste dump and a tribute to the amazing Southern Right whales of the Great Australian Bight. Please enjoy and share with your friends.
